Muslim Youth of Philadelphia's Weekend Islamic School is an initiative that has been a cornerstone of Islamic education for years. Located in Southwest Philadelphia, our school is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of young Muslims with a focus on knowledge, character, and faith.

A Path to Qur'an Memorization
At the heart of our program is Qur'an memorization, where many of our students are on the remarkable journey of becoming Hafidh, memorizing the entire Qur'an. We recognize the significance of this sacred responsibility and provide structured, supportive guidance to help our students achieve their goals.
Holistic Islamic Education
While Qur'an memorization is a cornerstone, our curriculum is comprehensive and goes beyond memorization to ensure a well-rounded Islamic education:

Arabic Language: We teach students the language of the Qur'an, empowering them to understand the meanings and nuances of the text.

Islamic Studies: Our students learn about Islamic history, theology, and jurisprudence, building a deep understanding of their faith.

Understanding the Challenges of Western Society
Our teachers bring not only knowledge but empathy and experience. Many understand firsthand the unique challenges of growing up as a young Muslim in the West. These challenges include external influences that can negatively impact a child’s development.
